1. How long does it take for OrNsoft to finish an average project?

There is no such thing as an average project length for us. Some of our projects are small, well-defined, and completed in two weeks while others can take nine months or longer. Project length depends on the complexity and scope of the project, and whether revisions have been made to the original brief. Contact Us or request a call for a free consultation. After a consultation, we can compare your business needs to a project we’ve done in the past to give you a better idea of how long your project would take.

2. What are the basic steps involved in the creation of a custom software application for my business?

Here are some of the basic steps we taking when projecting the scope of a project:
– Analyzing your business’s needs and agreeing on the objectives of the custom software
– Designing a software solution based on the results of the analysis and client interaction
– Building the software in line with customer-approved milestones
– Testing the beta version in your working environment
– Delivering the final custom software with all necessary documentation

3. What are the benefits of a mobile app versus a mobile website?

As a complete mobile app solutions provider, OrNsoft provides both mobile apps and mobile websites. While a mobile website is important to ensure all visitors have access regardless of device, our focus on native apps for iPhones, iPads, and Android devices is a reflection of the significant benefits a mobile app offers over its mobile website counterpart. Mobile apps are more reliable and engaging, with the ability to access content offline and take advantage of features unavailable on a mobile website.

4. During its development, can I see my website while it’s in progress?

As a complete mobile app solutions provider, OrNsoft provides both mobile apps and mobile websites. While a mobile website is important to ensure all visitors have access regardless of device, our focus on native apps for iPhones, iPads, and Android devices is a reflection of the significant benefits a mobile app offers over its mobile website counterpart. 5. Is cloud computing new?

Cloud computing is not a new technology, architecture, or methodology. However, it is a new Information Technology “delivery model” where all computing and networking resources are delivered as “services” that are elastic (used as much or as little as you need at any given time). These “services” are massively scalable, and are available on-demand with self-service, pay-as-you-go variable cost subscriptions.

Do you code everything from scratch?

This really depends on the requirements. Many of our clients want to fully own the source code of their project. This could be for many reasons: security, performance, or patents & copyrights. You will likely want to have it written from scratch. If not, we can also start from any existing solutions. OrNsoft’s team has an extensive knowledge of other proprietary and open source solutions on the market. We stray from reinventing the wheel when there is a tool that is suitable for solving a problem. If there is an existing solution, you can be sure we will give you the option to use that as a base. In any case, the parts that make your project custom and provide value that is specific to you are always coded from scratch.

What happens when you are done? Who offers support and fixes bugs?

Software is rarely ever “done”. As your business changes, your software product will need to evolve and adapt. But, we do expect the code we deliver to perform as intended. We’ll maintain the code for bugs for at least 1 year and make sure that everything is working fine.

How do I update my website?

There are many different ways to update websites. The method you choose and the functionality we build into your design is solely up to you. If you have a small website with just a few pages and will rarely make changes, then it is usually more cost-effective to have OrNsoft to carry out these changes for you. Other methods are largely dependent on how much data or information you have and how you store this information. We can provide an online content management system in which you can update individual products/pages/services or particular sections of your website such as company news or blog posts. We can also provide functionality so you can upload your entire product catalog to the website in one action using a spreadsheet file. We can also add databases, among many other features, if you wish.

I have very little technical knowledge. How much work is involved on my end to create an app?

OrNsoft handles 100% of the technical work, including developing the app and submitting the finished product to the App Store and the Google Play Store. We also provide complete assistance in determining the content and graphic requirements for the app. A specialist will walk each client through the entire process and be available for any questions or concerns from the moment the development process begins through the life of the app. Check out our testimonials page for recent feedback from a handful of our satisfied clients.

How do I manage content in my mobile app?

The OrNsoft Extranet enables our clients to manage most content and configuration changes 24 hours a day. Edits made to the app in the content management system — as well as other functions such as push messaging — are published in real-time to users’ devices around the world. For content already existing on a third-party CMS, our development team may also build a custom data connector to propagate data into the mobile app. In these cases, clients are able to make content changes in their existing system to be reflected in the app without additional work.

How many changes can I make to my site without additional cost?

We give as much latitude as we possibly can. Before entering development, we have a design and wireframe phase. During those phases, we will complete up to two rounds of major revisions at no charge. All minor revisions are provided at no charge.

What is your minimum project size?

OrNsoft is a company that does not scoff at small projects. Over the last 10 years, our project portfolio has built up to cover a wide range of clients – from big, blue-chip multinationals, to startups and even one-man operations with a great idea. To us, the viability of a project and its ability to excite us is what matters, not whether it is considered “small potatoes” by other developers. After all, happy clients grow and sometimes bring their friends…

How much maintenance is required once the app is live and operational?

OrNsoft takes care of the entire process, utilizing our OrNsoft Extranet to deliver app content to users around the world and addressing bug fixes to make sure each app runs smoothly on new operating systems and mobile devices as they are released. As part of OrNsoft, these services are typically renewed on a yearly basis for the life of the app.

What if I am not ready for development?

It’s not enough to build your software right. We can also help you determine the right thing to build. You can Contact Us for  a free consultation and get more information about our pre-project consulting process.

Does OrNsoft offer multi-language support?

OrNsoft currently offers support for German, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Russian, and Turkish. By default, the app will detect the native language of a user’s iPhone, iPad, or Android device. If the app supports that language, it will automatically be displayed as the default. If the user wants to override the automatic setting, they can open up the settings screen on their device, select the settings for the app, and navigate to the language settings screen. Nevertheless the translations will be geared toward the customer’s preferences.

How does OrNsoft recruit developers?

Our developers have been with us for a long time – some from the very start of the company – and they know their stuff inside-out. New developers are always rigorously selected for their creative flair, educational excellence and analytical skills. Equally important, they need to be able to function as an integral part of our existing team and demonstrate the ability to communicate well at all levels. Our developers are often experienced with 5-10 years of software development. On top of this you must know that if a developer is not at least 2 years in the company and proved himself, they will stay under supervision and supported by the rest of the team. In fact, our clients frequently tell us how much they enjoy working with us, partly because they get on so well with our teams.

What is a Service-Oriented Enterprise?

What really differentiates a Service-Oriented Enterprise (SOE) from a traditional business model is its “outside-in” approach. An SOE creates business-driven value by defining and exposing its core business processes to the external market through the use of open technology in the form of “services.” This reorganization includes new business requirements, new operating zones and new license structures that can enable improved collaboration between organizations and their customers and suppliers. A SOE has the capability to organize its responses to market shifts due to the agility within its culture, processes and IT systems.

Are any other services included in your development costs?

Yes. Our web design and development service includes configuration of your email accounts, detailed monthly traffic reports, and basic search engine optimization services. Basic SEO includes submission of your site to the major search engines, and the setup of your primary metatag information (Page Titles, Descriptions and Keywords). Additionally, we can even setup your different social media accounts and link them to your website.

What types of applications can run in the cloud?

Technically, you can put any application in the cloud. But that doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. For example, there’s little reason to run a desktop disk defragmentation or systems analysis tool in the cloud, because you want the application sitting on the desktop, dedicated to the system with little to no latency. More importantly, regulatory and compliance concerns prevent enterprises from putting certain applications in the cloud, particularly those involving sensitive customer data. IDC surveys show the top uses of the cloud are in IT management, collaboration, personal and business applications, application development and deployment, and server and storage capacity.

What types of services are available via the cloud computing model?

Public cloud services are breaking down into three broad categories: software-as-a-service, infrastructure-as-a-service, and platform-as-a-service. SaaS is well-known and consists of software applications delivered over the Web. Infrastructure-as-a-service refers to remotely accessible server and storage capacitites, while platform-as-a-service is a computer-and-software platform that lets developers build and deploy Web applications on a hosted infrastructure.

What warranty and support is provided after the software project is completed and delivered?

OrNsoft holds itself to the rigorous standards set by the software industry. We warrant all our software in accordance with accepted industry standards and practices. We also offer a range of on-going support services for all of our customers.

What is a public cloud?

Naturally, a public cloud is a service that anyone can tap into with a network connection and a credit card. “Public clouds are shared infrastructures with pay-as-you-go economics,” explains Forrester analyst James Staten in an April report. “Public clouds are easily accessible, multi-tenant virtualized infrastructures that are managed via a self-service portal.”

What is Business Technology?

The term Business Technology (BT) is frequently used to describe new technologies like Web 2.0 and their use in business to differentiate them from the tools and techniques of traditional Information Technology (IT). The key differentiation between business technology and information technology centers on decentralization and unstructured environments. Organizations still need the centralized and structured role of IT. Enterprise Cloud Computing provides back office functionality, but BT is an additional layer focusing on the front office and customer-facing business activities.

What is cloud computing?

Gartner defines cloud computing as “a style of computing in which massively scalable IT-related capabilities are provided ‘as a service’ using Internet technologies to multiple external customers.” Beyond the Gartner definition, clouds are marked by self-service interfaces that let customers acquire resources at any time and get rid of them the instant they are no longer needed. The cloud is not really a technology by itself. Rather, it is an approach to building IT services that harnesses the rapidly increasing horsepower of servers as well as virtualization technologies that combine many servers into large computing pools and divide single servers into multiple virtual machines that can be spun up and powered down at will.

What’s driving enterprise cloud computing?

Cost savings absolutely represent a significant driver. But far more important are the changes going on in society outside of the business world in our hyper-connected global society. With the advent of easy-to-use “Consumer IT” or Web 2.0 usage of the Internet, Social Networks are changing the ways we live, learn, collaborate, work, consume and play. These huge changes in society also disrupt the way we design and manage our organizations and our value chains that deliver value to customers.

Will my app still work without an internet connection?

Our native apps for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices cache content upon the initial download and installation process, meaning the bulk of your application’s data is saved and ready for offline use. Content such as Twitter and RSS feeds will need an internet connection to receive the latest updates, but core content can be made accessible regardless of an internet connection.

Will we need to have a meeting to discuss the project?

Most of the time, a meeting isn’t necessary and the work is completed with only discussions over phone, email, or video chat. We upload our work to our development server that only clients can access. We then work with you to discuss the site and review changes. The site isn’t made available to the public until it looks and works exactly as you wish.
